Philosophy:

Teachings are based on Taoist Inner Alchemy. This includes movements from the master One Cloud and others.

Qi (Chi) is “vital energy” circulating through channels in our body called meridians (in Chinese acupuncture) or Nadi lines (in Thai massage). By purifying and opening these channels and by “balancing” the flow of energy through them, we maintain or restore the proper functioning of our body and mind.

Qigong is done to clear and gather energy through the channels and into the Dan Tien. Dan (elixir) Tien (field/open space) is located just below the navel and is where the internal alchemist cultivates the inner elixir of higher consciousness.

The Taoist system is a natural order of harmony and balance of energy (Qi) and opposing forces (Yin/Yang). Qi channels are linked to the energy of the 5 elements in nature: Metal/Air, Wood, Fire, Water, Earth

Each element is associated with a Yin organ and a Yang organ, a season where that energy is dominant, a color, a quality, emotions, and a particular sound (vibration/frequency)

Major Pathways of energy circulation:

5 Major pathways: Central Channel, Font and Back channels, Left and Right side channels. Plus the Belt Channel which integrates all major channels.

Benefits of Qigong:

Bringing mindfulness to your breath and your movements brings increased consciousness to your way of being in the world.

Qi Gong helps with:

  • Increased focus

  • Balance of energy body for health

  • Empowerment for setting intention

  • Slowing the mind/body to de-stress

  • Increased self-awareness

  • Increased sense of how the body relates to space around us and how we relate to nature in a playful dance (biomimicry).

What to expect in a Qi Gong class:

  • No special props are needed.

  • Normal street clothes can be worn as long as you have free range of motion.

  • The class is done standing but can be adapted to seated movements.

  • You will be making slow movements with your arms and hands coordinating the movements with your breath while setting your intention for energy to move into balance.

  • The classes are usually 50-60 minutes.

Qi follows Yi - Energy follows intention
